Check out my $3 spending spree at the local 'Friends of the Library' booksale: 'All Creatures Great and Small', 'The Best Short Stories of the Modern Age' (includes D.H. Lawrence, James Joyce, Joseph Conrad, Faulkner, Sartre, et al), 'All Quiet on the Western Front', 'A Raisin in the Sun', 'The Heart is a lonely Hunter', 'The Bonfire of the Vanities', 'Plum Island', 'The Grapes of Wrath', and last, but not least 'Madame Bovary'. My favorite find was in the short story book--a story entitled 'The Lottery' by Shirley Jackson. I read this when I was in High School and it made a lasting impression upon me. I had recently told my youngest daughter about the story and tonight, I'm gonna go downstairs and read it to her. She'll get it for sure.
In other matters, I've been too busy to really visit and comment upon many blogs lately, for this I apologize...but tonight I found about an hour to clean up my blog rolls just alittle bit. I've acquired new friends and acquaintances lately and I'm always amazed at the unforced, congenial diversity found in blogland.
