My youngest often wears an angst-y tee shirt which reads, "I hope these weren't the best four years of my life." To her, this sums up her high school years, except that is, for the dance portion.
This weekend all the dance dollars we've spent over the past dozen years were paid back with interest as we watched youngest grace the stage in Northwestern Studio's presentation of the Divertissement from "Paquita" and a children's ballet "Hansel and Gretel."
She was a vision of beauty. I admit I did tear up a couple of times. But then, so did my daughter when it hit her that the day was the very last time she would sashay along with her teachers and buddies. These may not have been the best four years of her life, but fortunately for her, among many other things, dancing has taught her the poise to leap over the rough spots and the balance to keep all things in perspective.
P.S. I've been busy. Way too busy to blog. Sorry. But enjoy the dance slide show, especially all the little itty bitty dancers.
P.S.S. Annie was able to fit 2 tennis balls in her mouth. Sadly, there is no photo evidence.
