The shadows in the valley and trees lining the edge of Valle Crucis Park take on subtle pastel hues as clouds are backlit from the rising sun. I took this photo on Saturday morning while waiting for my birding buddies. I found an interesting recipe in the Avery Journal this week. When I first saw the title I thought there must be a mistake, which is not an uncommon practice for that paper. But after having read the list of ingrediants, I knew for sure that I definitely missed out on some sort southern redneck tradition (remember, I can say that because I am a redneck). I then became curious and looked up the recipe on the internet to see if the Avery Journal indeed have some kind of inside scoop. My search revealed that lots of folks out there like this stuff. I can't bring myself to make it yet, but when I do, I'll take photos. Here it goes:
VELVEETA CHEESE FUDGE
1 lb margarine or butter
1 lb Velveeta Cheese
1 cup cocoa
4 lb powdered sugar
2 cups nuts, chopped
2 tsp vanilla
Melt margarine and cheese together. Mix in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased pan. Cool. Cut in squares. Keep in refrigerator. Make enough for a big party.
My poor heart just seizes thinking about this recipe.
