Of the nearly 400 photos that I took this weekend, this one of a baby duck at Appalachian State University's Duck Pond is the one that my eldest daughter wanted me to post on my blog. "When I was at Cannon, my friends and I wondered why, out of the hundred ducks on the lake, there was only one baby, " said Elisabeth. When I returned home last night from shooting "Appalachian Summer" I told her that I visited the Duck Pond in hopes of catching the firework's reflections in the water. She asked me, " Did you see the Baby Duck?" I told her that I did and she was overjoyed. " Can I email it to all my friends?" she asked. Oh to be the only child of a bunch of concerned teenagers!
I shot a friend's wedding yesterday using the Nikon D70. I probably should have stuck to my F100. The D70 is great, but I found constantly changing the exposure, white balance, ISO, and flash settings...not to mention lens choices and mixed lighting, too much for my brain to handle. In review of the photos, I'm sure I did the happy couple a good job, but some really good shots were lost because I just wasn't up to the task. That rots.
But on the positive side..I was able to shoot fireworks with the D70 last night. Finally, a digital camera that shoots fireworks/lowlight/long exposures without a ton of digital noise! I wasn't at all happy with my composition or the display of fireworks, but I am confident now in the camera's ability to handle high school football ( I think ).... 3 frames per second seems limiting, but I rarely use that machine gun style of photography.
