Last week when Hurricane Frances passed over the Southern Appalachians dumping 8-20 inches of rain, I failed to show the destructive forces of floods in our mountains. Yes, I was out taking lots of photos, but I never was able to find 'the shot' and thus didn't post much. Parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway even washed away and I didn't even tell you about it.
Now, it is forecast that we will receive rain in 'historic' proportions again this weekend when Hurricane Ivan is predicted to stall over the Appalachians.
I have my batteries charged, my scanner ready, my raincoat and boots and homemade camera raincoat (ducktape and trashbag) and other flood necessities ready to go. My husband is considering building an arc...
I don't want devastation, but if it happens, I'll try to show it better this time around.
