I have no clue what this thingy is but it was too early this morning when I took its photo. Eldest child was invited to play in a quartet at the BIG church in Boone this morning--both services. Because our road is still icy, I starred in the role of meanest-mom-in-the-whole-wide-world and would not let her drive herself. Which meant that meanest-mom-in-the-whole-wide-world had to get her butt to church by 7:15 am. As I was searching for a cup of coffee, the sun was rising and I drove around Boone spiritually delighting in my closeness to heaven...
Our family is not the most organized at participating in organized religion so by the 11am service, my delicate internal balance was teeter-totting. It was interesting. I never did hear my daughter play her cello, but she looked wonderful. You see, the organ, the piano, the choir, the bass guitar and the drums drowned out the stringed instruments. I had to stifle my giggles. Every once in a while you could hear the violin eek something out but really, there was not much point in the charade.
Now...if I can only stay up to watch some of the superbowl. I just want to see the commercials and have no emotional investment in who wins/loses.
