First Date

Eldest is on her first date with Mr. Needs-a-haircut. S'ok though. He's a teenager. Eldest lost the original dress she was gonna wear because youngest accidentally donated it to the local Halloween costume charity. We scrambled to replace it.
"I was doing her a favor. The dress was hideous," said Youngest.
Anyway. Mr. Needs-a-haircut survived not only a family dinner but a 45 minute conversation with my husband while eldest did her hairdo. He passed. So far. We are still awaiting her return. Mr Needs-a-haircut is from off the mountain. Apparently they met at music camp over the summer.
Mr. Needs-a-haircut is an accomplish musician. He plays viola--together they talk a weird language.He also likes Macs, snowboarding and listens to Hawthorne Heights . Youngest child completely approves of him now and wishes that he would teach her sibling something reasonable to listen to besides Eroica Trio ...

In Linville, North Carolina

The best color today was found in a small bog next to the Invershield Cleaners on the Linville Highway. I made the 45 loop from Boone to Linville via the Blue Ridge Parkway. I couldn't see the summit of Grandfather because I was driving through thick fog. It looks to be a fair autumn provided the area stays free of wind and we get a cold snap in the next couple of days.

Just reporting from the top of the mountain...

So if you will excuse me, I'm going to attempt to install a couple of new toilet seats.

It doesn't look like this up here yet...

Remants of tropical storm Tammy fall upon us today. I've been inundated with requests for fall foilage shots from various editors and I since they have plundered my stock reserves without regard to their future needs, I have nothing left to offer.

"But we need it tomorrow," they whine.

I look outside at the rainy day and simply say, "It is rain fall but it ain't leaf fall yet dude. Wait a week."

Note: I did go to Banner Elk yesterday and there is some serious color. If you are planning a trip up here this weekend--venture high upon the peaks and on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Grandfather Mountain and Mt. Mitchell. You'll see color there.

A Shooting Spree

Yesterday I shot this scene. Then I shot a U.S. Representative. Afterward I shot a whole bunch of school children. I shot an old lady. I even shot the sheriff. Then I shot my daughter. She was running.
So now if you please excuse me, I need to go shoot a bunch of Buddist Monks.

The weekend that wasn't

Fog blanketed Monday until I climbed high enough to get above it all...

It is hard to tell when last week ended and the new week began. We'll just agree to call the time period of Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the Weekblend.

I rubbed eldest's back to wake her from her repose.
"Please don't make me go to school," she pleaded.
Except for a XC meet on Saturday, she spent the entire weekend on school work. I know precisely how she feels. Regardless, we are up and at 'em...
Sigh.

Mullet Dawg

Harley decided to make a sudden change in her hairstyle. Unlike most females, she is completely happy with her new do.
I think I like her Bubba Teeth better. But I'm not going to tell her that...
