I went to a Veteran's Day ceremony in Blowing Rock this morning. Am I the only one who tears up during patriotic moments? I'm a patriot but I'm not generally an overtly sentimental gal. Yet sometimes seeing an old man in uniform salute during 'Taps' just gets to me...

      This is an album of photos I took at Saturday's 6th annual Watauga River Run in Valle Crucis, N.C. The 5K event raises money for the Watauga County Schools and Zapfitness in honor of a pair of runners, Gwen Tyrie and Andy Palmer, who died a week apart in 2002.     • Kitty Rominger nears the finish line
      135 runners took part in the 5th annual Watauga River Run on May 27th 2006. The 5k race started and ended at Valle Crucis Elementary school. Proceeds from the race benefit the Gwen Tyrie and Andy Palmer Memorial Funds.
