It was all about her this weekend so I spent Saturday alone and bored in the hotel room while youngest attended dance classes. I tried to venture downtown but just as I was leaving the 'Arts' district of Winston-Salem, a man with mental disabilities decided that I was to be the recipient of his lunatic ravings. He literally chased me a half a block before I found shelter in Miller's Department Store. I returned to the hotel room and watched 'Titanic'...I remained bored up until it was time for her to perform.
As I was walking down the hallway, a dance mom saw me and said,
"I am known for my margaritas. Are you interested?"
"Always," was my reply to her.
She shared with me her recipe that I think you should know. It is simple and yummy:
The Dance Mother's Little Helper Margarita
1 twelve ounce can of Limeade
12 ounces Tequila
12 ounces of Corona Beer
12 ounces 7-Up
Mix or stir. Add ice and lime slice. Drink up and share with another bored dance mom.
(I spoke with Other Dance Mom about the recipe. She emphasized using Limeade and not those frozen Margarita Bacardi mix. Additionally, she mentioned that you do not dilute the Limeade with water--use it from the can. Adding ice when mixing all together will help water the Margarita)
And all I can say about the performances on Saturday evening were that the judging was not particularly kind to our dancers...apparently the judges at this competition prefer twelve year olds to dance like strippers. Their motto: Show me skin before technique. Yet despite the judging, my daughter remains on a 'dance' high. All the way home Sunday she talked about dance this and dance that and dance for next year, and dance in general. At one point I asked her what specifically was her favorite part of dance to which she replied:
"When I dance, nothing else matters. I dance to relax."
Then she proudly showed me her split toe nails courtesy of her pointe shoes. Clearly a badge of honor.
**Update**
By the way, I am ever so close to my 4000th comment. Should I have a prize for #4,000? I think so. Don't know what, though. Any suggestions?
