I drove around the country today like I had all the money in the world to spend filling my gas tank. I don't. And, my camera was never chocked full of images either. But I did find a new place called Curly Maple Valley that I kinda fancied. It is a tucked-away fold in a nameless mountain off of Junaluska Rd...
I regarded a blending of things in Boone today that I found curious. I saw a lady, about 30 years old sporting dreadlocks. That actually is a rather common site in downtown Boone. However, this lady was holding the hand of a pre-school child. Again, not uncommon. But I watched the pair approach a brand new Chrysler Town and Country mini van. She hit a remote keypad and the lights flicked on and off. She whispered sweet assurances to her child as she lovingly tucked him into the baby seat. My shots of the interaction were ruined by a passing vehicle. So you know, I did try to capture the moment.
I'm not making a statement one way or another about dreadlocks or minivans...yet, as I watched the scene unfold, it just never occurred to me that the two would ever so peacefully merge.
I am merely pondering aloud....
