That was her AKC registered name, "Everybody Loves a Harley." We named her that because we (the girls and I) wanted to immediately endear her into my motocyling husband's heart. And it worked.
I am humbled and a bit overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotions and empathy shown by you for Harley and I. You know, with each and every one of your commnts you taught me a valuable lesson.
You see, I've always lacked the words to express myself, epecially on sad occasions. I felt lame when the only thing I could squeak out was "I'm sorry." But now I know that a simple "I'm sorry" or "My thoughts are with you" or even "Hugs" is just as perfect at a time like this as an lengthy eloquent sentiment. I read each of your comments--several times, and am comforted by the fact Harley brought joy to so many people.
Harley is buried in a quiet corner of our property next to my favorite boulder. We placed five tennis balls with her so she might be challenged in her afterlife.
Here's one of the first photos of Harley I ever posted on my blog on Thanksgiving in 2003. I never tire of seeing this image. What an awesome dog!
My tears have mostly dried and I'm ready to move on and make other images. So, now you know I have a difficult time finding the right words in certain situations so please believe me when I say:
Thank You.
