Ed and Glenda Treadaway generously shared a hamburger with me. I had forgotten to eat and didn't think that I could wait until after the game. Glenda is the acting chair of the Communications Dept. at ASU. Thanks ya'll.
Well, maybe not, but Preston Powell flew in from Asia just to see the game in Chattanooga. It is unofficial, but I declare him the furthest travelling App State fan. Powell was an ASU linebacker from 1997-2000.
It is generally not considered smart to volunteer to lay on the ground and look up at a bunch of rabid fans about 3 hours into the tailgating process...happily I survived.
Adam Burleson cheers, "I've got spirit, yes I do. I've got spirit, how 'bout you?" Adam does this while jumping wildly upon his buddy's mini-van.
Jared and Stacy Everett cooked more than 50 pounds of pork and stuff for the 8 people in their tailgating party. They let me have a taste...mmmm
Well, Adam Sandler was a no show at the 1-AA Championship Game, but thank goodness that Scooby-Doo, Dennis Haskins and Santa Claus were all there.
This was the coolest ride that I saw in the parking lot during the tailgating session. It belongs to App fans (duh ) Grayson and Eric Fleming who came from Delaware to see the game.
Those silly UNI fans have no respect for the environment. We know that no APP fans were drinking before the game...
I repeat, Adam Sandler wasn't at the game, but at least Scooby-Doo (aka-Ashley Galleher) was.
I ran into so many friends in Chattanooga that I really thought I was still in Boone.
Apparently the black and gold Santa is all three. Everyone kept coming up to it and rubbing his belly for good luck.
I think you can find Santa's blog here: http://www.chattablogs.com/quintus/archives/031365.html
That's Leila taking a photo of me. We were in the middle of the mob scene at the time. I turned around and saw her. It is so cliche and silly for photographers to take photographs of each other taking photographs, but hey, you really just had to be there. Do note the lucky golden gloves that she is wearing. During the first half, the gloves weren't bringing ASU as much luck as she had hoped, so she put on her lucky ASU sweatshirt. Thanks Leila. It worked!
but at the time, this guy was scaring me just alittle. He and I were on the field of Finley Stadium celebrating with thousands of other Appalachian fans after we defeated the University of Northern Iowa 21-16.
